Join the DeLand Breakfast Rotary for the 28th Annual Wild Game Feast. This year’s Feast will be Thursday, May 2, 2019 from 5 – 9 p.m. in the Tommy Lawrence Arena at the Volusia County Fairgrounds (3150 E. New York Ave.)
The countdown to summer break has begun. Most parents and grandparents are hastily searching for camps, Vacation Bible Schools, day trips and activities to fill the calendar. For a fun, family-friendly activity, consider hitting the trail to visit the “Wings of the West” around Volusia County.
The commercial real estate market in DeLand and throughout Central Florida is experiencing heavy growth. No one should ever trek the path of commercial real estate alone. There are many factors at play that necessitate a team of experts that can save you time and money. To help clients navigate through those sometimes murky waters, Swann Real Estate has strengthened its commercial division.
Long time Magic fans can be proud. For the first time in seven years, the team has made the playoffs. Because of their playoff run, many new fans have jumped on the bandwagon in cheering on the team. If you are a bandwagon fan, don't feel bad. There's always room for more fans, and the future is bright for this team!
Have you ever wanted a heart-shaped steak to woo your Valentine? Or perhaps you’re looking for a variety of meats and steak cuts for your next backyard barbecue? DeLand has a new option to “meet” all of these needs.
After occupying three locations over its six year existence, Beeatroot has found its way “home”. Now a permanent fixture of Downtown DeLand, Beeatroot opened in its new location at 105 Artisan Alley on February 8. Just steps away from the DeLand Wings mural, directly behind Persimmon Brewing Company, Beeatroot is a unique addition to the eclectic mix of businesses located on the Alley.
Being in real estate for 40 years, you see it all. Market swings, interest rate changes and the growth of a hometown. That is what our own Todd Swann has seen as a native of DeLand and the recent recipient of the REALTOR® Emeritus award from the National Association of Realtors.
The south side of DeLand is adding another grocery option to its lineup and not a single artificial preservative will be found. Earth Fare, a grocery chain focused on health, is renovating the space in the West Volusia Regional Shopping Center left vacant by Winn-Dixie last year. Across Orange Camp Road from Publix at County Club Corners, Earth Fare will become a second grocery store option for south DeLand.
With a downtown as picturesque as DeLand’s, a parade down Woodland Blvd seems the perfect celebration of any event. For the Krewe of Amalee, this has been taken to the next level. Their annual DeLand Dog Parade “Mardi Gras on Main Street” has raised almost $600,000 through sponsorships which are used to nurture local neighborhoods as well as support the arts, fragile families, and humane pet centers.
The 2018 Stetson baseball season went down in Hatters history for many reasons and will fondly be remembered for years to come. The team went on to the Super Regional tournament against the University of North Carolina in Chapel Hill, NC where Stetson's cinderella season came to an end, but it lit a spark in a town that is hungry to see their hometown university be national competitors. The 2019 season brings an eagerness for the Hatters to pick up where they left off, but it won’t be easy.
