An older community that is very spread out, but is still 10 minutes away from downtown is Glenwood. The Glenwood area reaches from State Road 44 (New York Ave.) all the way to Deleon Springs along Grand Avenue. This is approximately an eight mile stretch that is decorated by beautiful live oak and water oak trees.
Glenwood has a lot of benefits that suite those who may be seeking a more scenic and laid back lifestyle. Some of the highlights include:
1. Scenic bicycle path. Stretching most of the Glenwood area along Grand Avenue, this path is great for serious bicyclists or family riders alike. The path is part of the Spring-to-Spring Trail, stretching from Deleon Springs to Blue Springs State Park and beyond. It is the perfect place to burn some extra calories before sunset.
3. Highland Park Fish Camp. This bait shop and boat launch gives access to Lake Woodruff and the St. Johns River. There is also a catch-and-release bass pond on site that is perfect to take young children to catch that first largemouth.
4. Glenwood is home to the Duvall Home, a facility run by the Presbyterian Church that caters to those with special needs. The Duvall Home unites community members through the numerous opportunities to participate in fundraising efforts and events to support this unique organization
5. The area contains a few traditional subdivisions such as the gated Glenwood Oaks and also Glenwood Reserve.
