However, fighting fires isn't the only experience that Scott had prior to real estate. He flipped homes and built a small portfolio of property rentals on the side during his days off. "That's where I really learned about real estate and property management," said Scott. "I did my own advertising, background checks, and repair work." Scott endured the recession and then took a break from his side business, but has always wanted to get back into real estate.
It is a busy schedule, but one that Scott believes will pay off in the future. He doesn't have much down time, but he gets to do a few of his passions from time-to time. Aside from working and spending time with his family, he enjoys competitive swimming and stand up paddle-boarding on the coast.
